Teaching Statement
In the world today where students can google and easily find information themselves, I believe the role of a professor is no longer a knowledge provider but more of a mentor or supervisor. Therefore, in the university, the professor should focus more on guiding students to manage the information that is available and find innovative ways to organize and apply information in a meaningful manner. Students should also learn how to work in teams to create new knowledge together with people from different disciplines.
I believe in creating a learning environment that encourages Active learning where learners are motivated to take initiatives to explore knowledge themselves. Therefore innovative teaching methods that incorporate modern technology such as blended learning approach should be used to inspire students to create new knowledge, innovative designs, services and technologies through interaction with professors and fellow students.
In the past years, I have taught 18 undergraduate and graduate course subjects in school of EEE and school of CSE. Courses I have taught are well received.
I also designed new course for game design/programming and advanced software engineering. I have been involved in both undergraduate and graduate course curriculum design, MSC Selection process and student interview/recruitment.
I am also co-supervising PhD students and Master students with other faculties and supervising final year undergraduate students.
